About InPlaceText

InPlaceText is an online tool for replacing visible text inside an image while keeping the edit in the original position.

Why it exists

In a JPG, PNG or screenshot, words are pixels rather than editable text layers. Adding a new text box only covers the old words. InPlaceText instead redraws the selected area so the replacement follows the existing lettering, colour, size and surrounding image.

What it is for

It is designed for authorised everyday edits such as correcting wording on your own signs, labels, posters and social graphics, updating a date on your own flyer, or changing interface text in a mockup or screenshot you are allowed to edit.

What it can and cannot do

The result is a close visual match, not the original font file or an editable design layer. Clear, evenly lit text on simple backgrounds works best. Curved, blurry, reflective, very small or heavily textured lettering can be less exact and should be checked before use.

InPlaceText changes visible image pixels. It does not recover the source design file, identify or install the exact font, or change hidden file metadata.

Use boundary: do not use InPlaceText to alter IDs, bank or payment records, receipts, invoices, tickets, certificates, contracts or other documents that serve as evidence or official records. Only edit images you own or are authorised to edit.
